Fix Long Exposure Light Leak – Samsung NX Cameras

Have you ever come across an issue of Light Leaks using your Samsung NX or Mirrorless camera? I might have a fix for you?

This is not a new phenomenon on long exposure photography,  DSLR’s have suffered with this as well, especially with the viewfinders. However mirrorless cameras seem to suffer in different ways.

In my experience, with a mirrorless camera the main culprit for this is normally due to the lens mount/flange. When I started shooting long exposure with my Samsung NX1000 I often had the problem of the over exposed pink areas and it baffled me for some time. I could not work out where it was coming from? I researched it quite a bit online and eventually found a post about a guy with a Fuji mirrorless who had worked out it was coming from link between the lens and the body, the flange. After some testing it turned out this was what was causing me the same issues.

Recently I have also had someone contact me saying they were having the same issue with their Samsung NX1. Fortunately I have not had this issue with my NX1 but if you are suffering from this with any mirrorless camera, then there is a really simple fix for it…

Yep, it’s that simple, buy one of these. When you are taking your long exposure shots, simply put it round the base of your lens, where it meets the body of the camera and your problem should be solved? It worked for me and allowed me to take images like this with the Samsung NX1000…
