Still a work in progress, but I am now happy with the current set of images in this series, ‘Sentinels’. I would love to tell you that this was a planned series, but it has rather come together on its own, in fact almost subconsciously you could say. As I would imagine, like all good series of images, it took me a while to realise that I had started creating it, and once I had realised, well then it was about adding to it and building on the foundations I had started.
The series is captured solely on the Devon coastline and concentrates on both artificial and natural objects that sit like sentinels guarding and overlooking their environment. Of course, the man-made ones in some cases are quite literally doing this. What however they all have in common is they can be very eye-catching, especially when captured with moody skies, long exposures of varying degrees, and in my minimalist style. Hopefully, you also agree?

Almost every image was taken with my Sony a7R camera, and connected to that the versatile Sigma 24-105mm DG ART lens. One thing that they all 100% have in common was the fact that I used filters to vary the exposure times. Being a Kase Filters ambassador, those are of course what I used.
Sentinel 1 – iso100 – 46mm – f10 – 120secs – Kase Wolverine 10stop ND & 3stop soft grad.
Sentinel 2 – iso100 – 105mm – f8 – 60secs – Kase Wolverine 10stop ND & 3stop soft grad.
Sentinel 3 – iso100 – 46mm – f9 – 60secs – Kase Wolverine 6stop ND & 3stop soft grad.
Sentinel 4 – iso100 – 38mm – f7.1 – 60secs – Kase Wolverine 6stop ND & 3stop soft grad.
Sentinel 5 – iso100 – 105mm – f9 – 242secs – Kase Wolverine 10stop ND.
Sentinel 6 – iso100 – 24mm – f7.1 – 60secs – Kase Wolverine 6stop ND & 3stop soft grad.
Sentinel 7 – iso100 – 50mm – f9 – 60secs – Kase Wolverine 6stop ND.
Sentinel 8 – iso100 – 68mm – f11 – 60secs – Kase Wolverine 6stop ND & 4stop soft grad.
